What's in a Name?

My favorite sweat shirt growing up as a kid had a decal on the front of Charles M. Schulz famous Peanut character the adventurous beagle ‘Snoopy’ with ‘Joe Cool’ written all over it. On the backside of the sweat shirt was a decal of the smallest Peanut characters “Woodstock.” I admired these two comrades as they adventured out of their bird and dog house to discover new things. Getting into mischief and then cleverly finding a way out just before they got caught.

I was a shy, quiet and awkward kid, however, in my daydreams I was a virtuoso at every endeavor much like Snoopy. The difference between Snoopy and myself was he had a fearless heart something I was lacking at ten years old. But, when I put on that sweat shirt there was no stopping me because I infused Snoopy’s extrovert power of a one-person show with superior intelligence and vivid confidence.

Now, Woodstock’s power also came along with me on my neighborhood adventures because even though he was a tiny bird he came with a big presence. Having a big presence made it easier for me to engage with the people, places, and things around me with deep curiosity.

Today, I know that the Snoopy and Woodstock sweat shirt was the instrument that brought out what was always there deep within me as a kid. Even though the sweat shirt is long gone, my connection with these two characters is still present. I like what they symbolize for us adults; and that is to live with adventure, curiosity, friendship, and the fearlessness to dream.

You can’t go wrong with those ideas. So I decided to bring these two character's spirit along with me during my adventure of learning how to be a magnificent storyteller that inspires the human spirit in the genre of animation.
